Medieval villages
Not far from Mas Sivelou you'll find three small and typical South- France villages each with it's own charm. Anduze has a lot to offer for any tourist, so you'll find here a bamboo forrest 'le Bambouseraie', a steamtrain, many lively terraces and good restaurants. Saint Hippolyte du Fort is a smaller and more quiet village surrounded by the hills, which remained it's local character. Sauve, another beautiful medieval village, with a lot of artist living here, is built against the mountain. The narrow roads are hardly accessible for cars. Don't forget to visit the local markets, where you can find some good regional products as olives, goat cheese and sausages.
Winehouses of viniculture
The 'winelover' will appreciate this area; the 'Languedoc' is the most important wineproducer of France. Therefore you'll find within a radius of 20 km many 'caves' and 'domaines' where you are more than welcome for information or to try the latest harvest.
Roman architecture
At a distance of 45 minutes you can visit the roman cities as Nîmes, with it's imposant roman arena and Avignon with the pope's palace and the famous bridge. Another architectal structure is the aquaduct 'Pont du Gard'. People are still wondering how they could realise this incredible structure in those days. The smaller cities as Uzès and Aiges Mortes and the larger city of Montpellier, also known as 'petit Paris', are also worth a visit.
Nature
Within an hour drive you'll be at the sea, nearby the villages of Grau du Roi or La Grande Motte. You can visit the more larger quiet beaches or the one's that are closer to a lively beachtown. Further to the Northwest are the higher mountains of the 'Cevennen', with spectaculair views and small quiet roads, even in the high season. In one day you can visit the beautiful canyons 'Gorge du Tarn' and the 'Gorge du Cèze'.
Sports
Golf: There are four beautiful golfcourses within an hour drive from Mas Sivelou. 'La Campagne' at Nîmes belongs to the top five of golfcourses in France. 'La Grande Motte' offers, with it's 42 holes, a lot of variety. Closeby, at 15 minutes, there's a smaller golfcourse of 6 holes. From Mas Sivelou you can go walking or cycling with a choice for hilly or flat landscape, or you take the moutain bike into the mountains. Horseback riding, canoeing and mountaineering are also nearby. In wintertime there are possibilities to go skiing or cross country skiing in the mountains of Mont Aigioul (1.15 hr drive).
